How To be a Service Provider with eCaptions
Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART Captioning)
eCaptions is a matching (referral) company that connects clients and speech-to-text translators (aka captioners) working as self-employed independent contractors. We are always looking for skilled stenographers or voice writers to contract with us to provide their realtime speech-to-text translation (captioning) services in academic (and other) settings to the customers of their choice.
eCaptions employs no captioners in house or otherwise. eCaptions contracts with bona fide independent professional captioners providing their services through their own legitimate businesses. Therefore, when you contract with eCaptions as a vendor, we shall contract with your business.
Only qualified captioners will be considered for performing services (through their business). Opportunities to provide services will be on an as-needed basis.
To demonstrate that you are a professional performing services through and operating a business, we give preference to qualified individuals who show:
- They are working through a business with a valid Federal Employer Identification Number (aka FEIN or EIN).
- They perform their services through a formal business structure, such as:
- Corporation
- Limited Liability Company (LLC)
- Sole Proprietorship with a business name. If necessary, as required by local jurisdiction, the name may need to be registered as a Fictitious Business Name (FBN, aka Doing Business As, DBA).
- If required by local jurisdiction, their business has registered for and holds a Business License (aka local Tax Registration, Tax Certificate, Business Permit).
- Their business can provide proof that it is advertising by providing to us several items from this list:

Electronic copies are acceptable.
Other than certifications, all materials should be in the business name, referencing you as the service provider when necessary.
